The Mountain Hiking Guides

We are freelance mountain hiking guides, nature coaches and outdoor trainer, people who have made their passion into a profession. People who love to be in the mountains and countryside and who find enjoyment in leading other people to wonderful experiences together.

As well as a meaningful bundle of synergies, we offer an immeasurable collection of experiences which we can pass onto our guests.

"It must blaze inside you, what you want to kindle in others"

From childhood, I have always been away in the mountains. My love of nature was in-grained on my path through life. First the mountain tours with my parents, then as temporary career soldier and instructor at the mountain hunters in the army, later, tour leader and trainer in "Deutschen Alpenverein" and now as officially tested and authorised Tyrolean Mountain Hiking Guide, Nature Coach and Outdoor Trainer. What was once a longstanding, passionate hobby has, in the meantime, become a vocation.

When I’m out and about, it is for me not the athletic performance that counts but the conscious experience of nature.

A path in the mountains – a path into myself. On a Nepal journey I learned to see not only the next mountain range but to widen my horizons.

Variety, as well as the experience of silence and solitude attracts me, in all seasons, again and again into the mountains - whether it be hiking, climbing, snow shoe walking or high altitude tours.

Mountains and nature are my compass!

Based on the mottos „Inspire the people", „One sees only that which one knows," "Draw energy at Strength Mountain", I would like to clearly relay my experiences and knowledge on all excursions. In so doing, I hope not only to give a new outlook, a wider understanding, along Mother Nature’s hiking trails, but also to convey the relationship between man and nature, to be intensively felt, heard and grasped….

"Believe me, for I have learned it. You will learn more in the forests than in books; trees and stones will teach you what you will never hear from a master" Bernhard von Clairvaux

When I’m in the mountains, in the countryside, in the forest, my sight is clear, my head free…. a feeling which I would really like to share with you. My new challenge is to transmit my enthusiasm for the fascinating world of nature and mountains to my guests. Discover with me the source of strength… in nature…. on the mountain!

State-approved Physiotherapist

A child of the Franconian Rhön, stranded in the Hessian Ried and with his heart in the (high) mountains. Not that I could do without the low mountain ranges on my doorstep, the Odenwald and Taunus.

However, when I have left the lowlands behind me and begun to feel the ascent in my legs, then I know I have arrived.

So that I did not always have to arrive, I used, at first, my flexibility as a physiotherapist and moved to Switzerland, more exact to Unterengadin. I already knew this place very well from many holidays.

So I really hit lucky when I was given the opportunity to work as Hiking Guide in the Robinson Club there.

The privilege of being away outdoors every day and being able to share with my guests the beauty of this mountain world and region, with its picturesque villages was, until then, the absolute highlight of my career.

Now, as Tyrolean Mountain Hiking Guide I am given the opportunity of doing worldwide exactly that which gives me the most joy in my career.

To experience, enjoy, to mediate and to fill others with enthusiasm for nature and all its facets.

Gyurrmi TamangGyurmi
Professional freelance independent licensed Trekking Guide of Nepal

Our Nepalese friend has been Michael’s "little brother" since the Bhai Tika Ceremony on the last day of Tihar (after Dashain, the second most important festival in Nepal) – Festival of Light and Thanksgiving, in honour of the Goddess Laxmi. Gyurmi Tamang lives in Syabru Bensi in the heart of the Ganesh and Langtang Himal. He runs the Hotel Small Star there with his wife Yangzen. Both are professional freelance qualified and licensed Trekking Guides by the Government of Nepal and Langtang – Helambu experts.

When you are physically fit, you do not need a porter, you can carry your luggage yourself and you can find your own way without difficulty and without a guide….

These are usually the first thoughts when planning. Yet afterwards, nearly everyone admits that the decision to take a trekking guide was right. With Gyurmi Tamang you can always feel safe and sure, he knows the good lodges and through him you have a better contact to the local people. He bargains and organises for you and you can learn a lot about Nepal and its inhabitants from him. As a passionate musician he make always a good mood with his dranyen - a tibetan lute. Gyurmi will, at all events, be a valuable addition on the whole trekking tour.
